UDUPI: A tractor driver from Udupi died in a accident while unloading cement blocks on Friday The deceased is Sangappa Kirasur, 54. In a complaint, his son Maruti Kirasur stated that his father was employed by Mandavi Builders and was operating a tractor-trolley to transport cement blocks from the Manipal Industrial Area to various construction sites of the said builders in the Udupi-Manipal region.As usual, on August 1, Sangappa left for work, loaded the vehicle with cement blocks at the Manipal Industrial Area, and drove the tractor. Around 4 pm, while reversing the tractor down the ramp into the basement parking area of a building near the Moodanidambur service bus stand in Udupi taluk, the front of the tractor lifted off the ground. In the process, Sangappa slipped and fell between the tractor and trolley, suffering a severe head injury.Ganesh, the supervisor at the building, informed the complainant that Sangappa was immediately rushed to Adarsha Hospital for treatment. However, upon reaching the hospital, doctors informed the complainant that Sangappa died on the way.According to the complaint, the accident was caused due to Sangappa's negligence, as he operated the tractor-trolley in reverse without following proper safety and precautionary measures. Based on the complaint, Udupi Town Police have registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
