The traffic police at Benz Circle surprised vehicle riders by handing them balloons for following safety precautions, on Sunday. A team of traffic police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Traffic) Shareen Begum presented balloons to the motorists and vehicle drivers wearing helmets and seat belts.

Ms. Shareen, who saw motorists wearing headgears, appreciated them for following the safety precautions. “Wearing helmet is safe for the bike rider, protection for the family and co-passengers on the road. I thank those who are wearing helmets,” the DCP said. “I request the pillion riders to wear helmets and follow traffic rules. The four-wheeler driver and passengers should fasten seat belts for their safety,” Ms. Shareen explained.

In most of the road accidents, two-wheeler riders were the victims. Deaths occurred due to head injuries. “Helmets will save lives during such accidents,” said a traffic police officer, who participated in the drive.

“The drive will continue for the safety of the public. I request the vehicle drivers to follow traffic rules and go home safely,” Ms. Shareen said.
