Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convener T P Ramakrishnan on Sunday strongly criticised UDF govt, alleging that it has been pursuing politically motivated actions despite not even completing a month in office.In a statement, Ramakrishnan accused govt of large-scale transfer of officials, disregarding established norms and acting on recommendations from pro-govt organizations. He said such actions undermine democratic principles and administrative transparency.On the spread of communicable diseases in Kerala, including Nipah virus infections, Ramakrishnan said the state had previously earned global recognition for its effective public health interventions.
However, recent decisions by health department had triggered widespread criticism and weakened state’s disease-control efforts, he alleged.He condemned the transfer and disciplinary action taken against director of health services, claiming the move as arbitrary and politically motivated. He questioned the rationale behind the action and demanded greater transparency from govt.Ramakrishnan accused UDF administration of attempting to divert attention from pressing public issues through political vendettas.
He said LDF would support all genuine measures aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases and protecting public health.The LDF convener raised concerns over recent govt appointments, including appointing K B Pradeep as special pleader for devaswom department. He alleged that appointing a lawyer connected to an accused in Sabarimala gold theft case was part of a conspiracy to weaken the prosecution.
Although the appointment was later withdrawn following public criticism, Ramakrishnan maintained that serious questions remain unanswered regarding access to sensitive case documents and possible information leaks.
He demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and sought govt’s clarification on its stance.Ramakrishnan alleged attempts to place individuals with Sangh Parivar affiliations in key govt positions. He accused Congress of maintaining a soft approach towards BJP and said Congress’s stance was detrimental to secular and democratic values. He urged Congress brass to explain its stance to the people of Kerala.
