Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce celebrated their wedding on July 3 with a private ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York. The couple kept the event under tight security, but the guest list soon became one of the biggest talking points after celebrities and athletes began sharing photos from the celebration. One longtime NFL friend of the Kansas City Chiefs star did not expect to become part of that conversation. After realizing he had not received an invitation, he openly admitted that the wedding made him question where he stood in his friendship with Kelce.
Taylor Lewan admits the wedding guest list left him with more questions than answers
Former NFL offensive tackle Taylor Lewan spoke about the wedding during the recent episode of “Bussin' With the Boys”, the podcast he co-hosts with former linebacker Will Compton. Lewan said he did not feel upset about the ceremony itself. Instead, his reaction came after he started seeing the names of people who attended the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce weddingThe guest list made him pause. Lewan explained that he has known Kelce for more than a decade and always believed they shared a close friendship.
They have stayed in touch over the years, regularly texting and calling each other. That history made his absence from the wedding difficult to understand.
As he looked through the list of guests, Lewan admitted he began wondering if he had somehow misunderstood their relationship. He even questioned whether there was something he had done without realizing it. He said, "I'm looking at these names. Yo, we're boys, I've known you for over 10 years.
We text and call each other. I'm clearly doing something wrong in our friendship, clearly something wrong. There's clearly a blind spot I'm not seeing.
"He later revealed that he almost recorded a voice message asking Kelce why he had not been invited. In the end, he chose not to send it. Instead, he texted the Kansas City Chiefs tight end to congratulate him on the wedding. Kelce replied with a short message, writing, "Thanks, brother."Lewan never accused Kelce of intentionally leaving him out. He laughed while telling the story, but his comments also showed genuine confusion over how the guest list came together.
Will Compton shared a similar reaction after spotting familiar names at the ceremony
The discussion actually started before those remarks. Dave Portnoy called former NFL linebacker Will Compton during an episode of Wake Up Barstool and asked why he had missed the wedding. Compton explained that he had been vacationing in Europe with his family and initially thought little about not receiving an invitation. His opinion changed after he saw who attended. During the show, Compton pointed to Fox Sports rules analyst Dean Blandino as one guest who surprised him. Later that day, Compton posted on X, "Don't think I've ever seen Dean Blandino at Tight End University."The remark stood out because Compton has become a familiar face at Tight End University, the annual offseason summit Travis Kelce co-founded with George Kittle and Greg Olsen.
Compton has attended the event several times and even took a photo with Taylor Swift during the 2025 edition. The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding reportedly welcomed about 1,000 guests from the worlds of sports, music and entertainment. While the celebration brought together some of the biggest names in Hollywood and the NFL, Lewan's comments offered a different perspective. For someone who believed he shared a strong friendship with the Chiefs star, the missing invitation became the biggest surprise of all.
