Director Bala is known for his intense and unique films. Although his previous films have faced criticism lately, the director still has a strong reputation in Tamil cinema. In light of all the talk about Bala, actor-director Singam Puli revealed an emotional tale about Bala’s goodness. His words caught attention and reminded many about the filmmaker's human side.
Singam Puli reveals Bala’s kind gesture
Speaking in a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Singam Puli discussed an incident that happened during 'Naan Kadavul.' He said Bala brought the beggars who acted in the film to Chennai and treated them with great care. “He made them stay in a star hotel and gave them good food three times a day,” Singam Puli shared. He also added, “Bala even arranged a bus and took them around Chennai for a week so they could see the city.
” This act showed Bala’s deep concern for people who rarely get such experiences.
Bala’s thoughtful actions leave a lasting impact
Singam Puli explained that Bala also provided comfort. He took them to meet music legend Ilaiyaraaja and arranged for photos and gifts. “I asked him why he was doing all this,” Singam Puli said. “He replied, ‘They may never get to see or experience these things in their life.’” This simple answer revealed Bala’s emotional thinking and his ability to care for people beyond the film set.
Bala’s legacy beyond films
Bala served as an assistant director to Balu Mahendra during his early career and then became one of the celebrated directors in the Tamil film industry, churning out unconventional films like ‘Sethu’, ‘Nandha’, and ‘Pithamagan’, to name a few, with plots focused on the lives of underdogs. The lack of success for his recent film ‘Vanangaan’, featuring Arun Vijay, however, doesn’t matter because Bala’s presence would overshadow a failure.
The lives he touched will miss his warmth.
