US President Donald Trump on Monday slammed the US Supreme Court after it upheld a state law allowing mail-in ballots received after Election Day to be counted.

The 5-4 ruling marks a setback for Republican efforts to impose tighter voting rules, as the court rejected a challenge by the Republican National Committee to a Mississippi law permitting absentee ballots to be counted if they are postmarked by Election Day and arrive within five business days.

Shortly after the ruling, Trump took to Truth Social, where he called the decision as a “tremendous loss" for “voter’s rights". He argued that votes should not be counted long after Election Day and used the ruling to renew his push for the SAVE America Act.
