Triple Tragedy: Father and Two Children Found Dead in Jamtara Well

Dumka: Police on Saturday recovered the decomposed bodies of a 40-year-old man and his two minor children — an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl — from a desolate well just a few hundred metres from an ashram in Jamtara district.Local shepherds alerted police after spotting the bodies. Based on the Aadhaar card found, the man was identified as Laxman Murmu, a resident of Murgathal village in West Bengal’s Birbhum district.“The bodies were in an advanced stage of decomposition, suggesting they were in the well for about three to four days,” sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Jamtara, Manoj Kumar Yadav, who rushed to the spot after receiving information, told reporters.

The way the bodies were recovered suggests foul play, and the case is being probed from a murder angle, police said. “We are also probing if it is a case of suicide or not,” the SDPO said adding that Bengal police was alerted about the recovery of the bodies.
