Tripura CM inaugurates Global Pineapple Festival 2026 in Delhi

Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha, joined by Union MoS for DoNER Sukanta Majumdar and minister Ratan Lal Nath, inaugurated the three-day Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.The festival convenes policymakers, farmers, traders and exporters to promote Tripura’s GI-tagged Queen Pineapple as a premium product and strengthen the state’s horticulture profile. The CM said it will improve market prospects for farmers and promote Tripura’s tourism, agriculture and cultural assets.The festival will host around 25 exhibition stalls from different state govt departments, highlighting Tripura’s agricultural offerings, tourist attractions, handicrafts, rural industries and various development projects.“In response to the increasing demand for Tripura’s pineapple, we plan to grow the area dedicated to Queen Pineapple cultivation from 12,000 hectares to 15,000 hectares over the next three years, along with establishing two bromelain extraction centres in Agartala and Gomati district,” the CM said.The CM also mentioned Mission Queen Pineapple, a three-year project worth Rs 236 crore, aimed at boosting production, enhancing post-harvest infrastructure, increasing value addition and significantly improving farmers’ incomes.
