A professor at Kamalapur Government Degree College in Tripura has been suspended after a video allegedly showing him engaged in an intimate act with a student surfaced online.

A government college professor in the Dhalai district in Tripura has been suspended after a purported video showing him engaged in an intimate act with a student surfaced on social media.
The video has sparked widespread outrage across the state, news agency PTI citing officials reported.
The incident involves an assistant professor from Kamalapur Government Degree College. Following the emergence of the purported clip, the college administration launched an internal investigation into the matter.
According to an official order issued by the state’s Education Department, the professor confessed that it was a “mistake on his part to be involved in the inappropriate act".
The department noted that by engaging in such inappropriate behavior on campus, the professor had violated the sanctity, dignity, and decorum of the institution and brought disrepute to the teaching profession.
As a disciplinary measure, the professor has been suspended. During the suspension period, he has been directed to be based at Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar College in Belonia in South Tripura district.
