Truck Fire Disrupts Traffic on Borio-Teenpahad Road Near Dumaria

Dumka: Traffic on the Borio–Teenpahad Main Road was disrupted for nearly two hours on Sunday morning after a truck caught fire near Dumaria village under the Borio police station limits in Sahibganj district, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides of the road, police said.The truck, loaded with stone chips, was travelling to Borio when the fire broke out in the cabin near Dumaria. The driver and the helper escaped by jumping out of the vehicle, the police added.Eyewitnesses said the flames spread rapidly and engulfed the vehicle within minutes. Local residents rushed to the spot and attempted to douse the fire. The Borio police alerted the fire brigade. The vehicle was reduced to ashes by the time the fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control.“Prima facie, the fire appears to have been due to a short circuit in the vehicle's wiring,” Prabhashankar Dubey, assistant sub-inspector of Town police station, said.
