Police, on Sunday, shifted Bhuvanesh, the driver of the truck that rammed into a crowd killing 10 people at Mosale Hosahalli in Hassan taluk, to Bengaluru for medical examination.
Soon after the accident on Friday night at Mosale Hosahalli, Goruru Police took the injured driver into custody and shifted him to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) in Hassan. It is learnt that the local people had also assaulted him following the accident.
After the preliminary medical examination, the driver was shifted to a private hospital in Belluru, Mandya district, at the request of the police. He had been undergoing treatment under police surveillance. On Saturday evening, the police took him back to Hassan.
The HIMS staff conducted an ECG and an ECHO (Echocardiogram). However, it is said that he complained of chest pain, and a physician referred him to the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology in Bengaluru for further examination.
The Hassan Police, then, took him to Bengaluru.
Speed breakers
Meanwhile, the Hassan district administration laid speed breakers on the road at the accident site to ensure road safety. Under the supervision of Public Works Department officers, the workers laid rumble strips at the accident spot.
On Friday evening, a truck hit a two-wheeler, crossed over the road divider, and rammed into the crowd participating in the Ganesha idol procession in the village.
