Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X on Tuesday that remembering B. R. Ambedkar should go beyond ritual and must be reflected in practice. Tagging an article authored by him and published in The Hindu, Mr. Jagan said true respect lies not in invoking Ambedkar’s name frequently, but in sincerely and consistently striving to realise his vision of justice, equality and dignity for all.

Mr. Jagan paid tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his 135th birth anniversary at the party’s central office in Tadepalli by offering floral respects to his portrait. Several leaders attended the programme, including former Ministers Merugu Nagarjuna and Adimulapu Suresh, MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Monditoka Arun Kumar, and party leaders T. J. R. Sudhakar Babu, Jupudi Prabhakar Rao and Rajasekhar, along with other Dalit leaders.
