West Asia War: US Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday (local time) issued a “stern warning" to Iran, saying President Donald Trump is “losing patience" and that attacks on Iranian infrastructure could intensify if no agreement is reached.

According to news agency Reuters, citing a source familiar with the matter, the Vice President has taken on an expanded diplomatic role in efforts to end the ongoing conflict and communicated with intermediaries from Pakistan about the escalating situation.

At Trump’s direction, Vance has also privately indicated that the US would be open to a ceasefire, provided key American demands are met. However, the outreach has been paired with a tougher signal: that failure to reach a deal would lead to increasing pressure.

Vance also delivered what the source described as a “stern message" that Trump was impatient, warning there would be growing pressure on Iranian infrastructure unless Tehran agreed to a deal.

Trump has already warned publicly of possible attacks targeting Iran’s power grid, though he has held off on authorising such action until April 6, leaving room for a diplomatic breakthrough.

Vance, widely seen as a potential successor to Trump in the 2028 presidential race, has approached the conflict cautiously, reflecting his longstanding skepticism of prolonged US military engagements. His recent involvement signals a dual-track strategy—pushing for a negotiated settlement while underscoring the risk of escalation if talks fail.
