US President Donald Trump on Friday announced the removal of an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods that had been imposed over India’s purchases of Russian oil. This comes following the announcement of a trade deal between New Delhi and Washington earlier this week.
An executive order signed by the US President states that India has “committed to stop directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil," news agency AFP reported.
The document also notes commitments from New Delhi to buy US energy supplies and to pursue a long-term plan with Washington to strengthen defence cooperation over the next decade.
