US President Donald Trump has approved a sweeping plan to build a massive new White House Ballroom, which according to a press release by the White House released Thursday, is a project that’s been on the wish list of past presidents for over 150 years.

The new addition, slated to begin construction in September 2025, is aimed at giving future administrations a grand space to host visiting world leaders and large-scale events without having to rely on temporary outdoor tents.

Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said: “President Trump is a builder at heart… and fully committed to preserving the White House’s history while building something future generations can use."

Trump, who prides himself on being a builder, is not just greenlighting the plan but also personally helping fund it, the White House press release said.
