US President Donald Trump said it is possible he could be willing to hold talks with Iran, but any negotiations would depend on the terms. In an interview with Fox News, Trump was asked about the possibility of negotiations with Tehran. The US President said he had heard that Iranian officials “want to talk badly," the network reported.
Trump also reiterated criticism of Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei telling Fox News, “I don’t believe he can live in peace."
During the interview, Trump repeated remarks he made earlier at a press conference regarding recent US military operations targeting Iran. He said the results of the operation were “way beyond expectation."
Trump also expressed surprise that Iran had launched missiles and drones toward Gulf countries amid the escalating regional conflict, according to the network.
The comments come as tensions remain elevated in the Middle East following US strikes on Iranian targets and subsequent military exchanges across the region.
