US President Donald Trump said Washington is prepared to escalate military operations against Iran if negotiations fail, warning that the Islamic Republic could be pushed “back to the Stone Age" as the conflict enters its fifth week.

In a national address, Trump outlined what he described as major battlefield successes and said US forces are close to completing their core strategic objectives, including dismantling Iran’s military capabilities and preventing it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

LIVE Updates On The US-Iran War

Referencing the ongoing campaign, Trump asserted that operations over the past month have significantly weakened Iran’s military infrastructure and leadership, while reiterating that Washington’s priority remains eliminating Tehran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons and support regional proxies.

Below are the key takeaways from Trump’s address.

WARNING OF FURTHER STRIKES

The President said Washington is prepared to intensify attacks over the next two to three weeks if Iran does not agree to terms, warning the country could be taken “back to the Stone Age." Trump emphasised the need for continued military pressure until US objectives are met.

SWIFT MILITARY GAINS IN FOUR WEEKS

Trump said US forces have achieved rapid progress in the conflict, describing the past month as marked by “swift, decisive, overwhelming victories on the battlefield." He maintained that Iran’s missile capabilities, naval assets and military leadership have been severely degraded during Operation Epic Fury.

CORE STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES NEARING COMPLETION

Trump said the US is close to achieving its primary war goals, which include destroying Iran’s missile production capabilities, weakening its navy and ensuring Tehran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon. Trump argued that key military targets have already been significantly damaged.

IRAN’S MILITARY CAPABILITY CLAIMED TO BE DEGRADED

The President claimed Iran’s navy and air force have been heavily weakened and that its leadership structure has suffered major losses. However, AP cited independent conflict monitoring data suggesting that while the intensity of strikes has declined, Iran still retains military capacity.

NUCLEAR PROGRAMME REMAINS CENTRAL ISSUE

Trump reiterated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains the central objective of US policy. He criticised earlier diplomatic efforts, including the nuclear agreement negotiated during the Obama administration, arguing that the issue should have been addressed earlier.
