The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) released ₹6 crore under the Sri Venkateswara Alaya Nirmana (SRIVANI) Trust, which was sanctioned for the development of the famous Mrutyunjayakunta Sivalayam in Kadapa city.
As such allocations require public contribution to the tune of 15% of the budget, local devotees came out in large numbers to offer their support. Temple chairman P. Nageswara Rao came forward to donate ₹25 lakh for the cause and handed over a cheque to the government whip and local MLA Reddeppagari Madhavi Reddy on Tuesday, who then formally handed it over to the temple executive officer Ravi Shankar.
It may be recalled that the MLA, along with her husband and TDP zonal coordinator R. Srinivasa Reddy, had followed up the matter with the concerned parties and played a key role in getting funds sanctioned from the TTD for the temple’s reconstruction.
On this occasion, Mr. Nageswara Rao appealed to philanthropists to offer donations in the form of cheques or demand drafts for the cause.
Meanwhile, Ms. Madhavi Reddy participated in the ground breaking ceremony and laid a foundation stone for the drainage work taken up in the city’s 44th and 46th divisions. She instructed the civic body’s Engineering staff to ensure quality in execution of the work and also meet the stipulated deadline.
