At a time when restaurants across Tamil Nadu are raising menu prices citing soaring LPG costs and rising raw material prices, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has taken a different route, offering chicken biriyani at just ₹99 at its restaurants every weekend, in a bid to attract more visitors.

“The ₹99 offer is for chicken biriyani. Each serving comprises approximately 450–500 gm of chicken biriyani and is accompanied by onion raita and brinjal gravy. This is a promotional price aimed at making quality food affordable and attracting more customers to TTDC restaurants,” said V.P. Jeyaseelan, Director of Tourism and Managing Director of TTDC.

“We have started selling this in select TTDC restaurants and may be expanded at all tourist destinations based on customer response,” he added. The ₹99 chicken biriyani offer is available at 21 selected TTDC locations across Tamil Nadu in places including Hosur, Ranipet, Ooty, Coimbatore, Kodaikanal, Chidambaram, and Tirunelveli among others. Around 4,200 plates are expected to be sold.

Mr. Jeyaseelan said the TTDC is managing the costs “through efficient procurement, standardized recipes, and optimized kitchen operations while maintaining quality.”
