Tutor arrested for molesting 15-year-old student in Jajpur district

Kendrapada: Police in Jajpur district on Saturday arrested a 35-year-old tutoron charges of molesting a 15-year-old girl during a tuition session at his residence.The incident came to light on Friday, when the girl, a Class X student, refused to attend her regular tuition class.

Concerned by her sudden reluctance, her parents questioned her, prompting the minor to reveal that she had been molested by her tutor on Thursday evening.

Subsequently, the girl’s mother lodged an FIR at the local police station, alleging inappropriate physical contact and sexual misconduct.Acting swiftly on the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested the tutor. He has been booked under multiple sections of the BNS, including sections74(assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), 75(unwelcome physical contact and sexual overtures), 76(assault with intent to disrobe), 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 126(2)(wrongful restraint) and 351 (criminal intimidation). Additionally, he has been charged under Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012.The accused was produced before a localcourt on Saturday, which rejected his bail pleaand remanded him in judicial custody, said investigating officer Anshumala Das.
