COIMBATORE: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Saturday congratulated TVK leader Vijay for starting his political campaign. He said Vijay intensified his fieldwork and TVK could get a significant number of votes, but it would not create any impact on the victory of the DMK-led alliance in the 2026 assembly election.Thirumavalavan was speaking to reporters after participating as a special guest in a seminar organised by the SC/ST employees of the Central Bank of India at Sungam in Coimbatore city. He said Tamil Nadu has only one strong political team, and it is the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance."There is an alliance under the leadership of the AIADMK, but it has not yet taken shape. TVK leader Vijay may contest independently, and there is speculation that he will form a team alone, but it has not taken shape yet," said Thirumavalavan. He said that the opposition parties were going to face the field separately, and there was no chance of meeting as a team. “If the BJP and the AIADMK split, there is no need for the alliance parties in the DMK to change their stand,” he said.He said former BJP state president K Annamalai was doing politics within the party. “It is clear from his actions that Annamalai has a problem in accepting the leadership of Nainar Nagenthran. Annamalai should understand that just like him, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran wanted to function independently," he said. Annamalai's actions seemed to be creating a crisis for Nainar Nagenthran, he added.
