Twenty women from Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district were detained by immigration officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the periphery of Hyderabad, after they were found carrying fake visas while attempting to board an Oman Air flight to Muscat on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) night.

According to the RGIA Outpost Police, the women were intercepted during the immigration clearance process after officials suspected that their visas were forged. They were subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

During the inquiry, the women told officials that a travel agent had arranged the documents after promising them jobs in Muscat and they were unaware the visas were fake. Police said the agent arranged both their employment and travel to Oman.

A case was registered by the RGIA Outpost police. The women were issued notices and sent back to their native place, while efforts are underway to trace the agent.
