The council further stated that the accusations against Singh had a “direct bearing” on the dignity and discipline associated with the profession.

Twisha, a 33-year-old actor from Noida was found dead on May 12 at the Bhopal residence of her husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, located in the Katara Hills area. Following the incident, police registered a case against Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, under charges of dowry harassment and abetment of suicide. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been constituted to probe the allegations further.
The Bar Council of India on Friday suspended advocate Samarth Singh from practising law with immediate effect in connection with the alleged dowry death case of his wife, model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma.
In its interim order, the apex legal body observed that the allegations against Singh were grave and had the potential to harm the credibility and integrity of the legal profession. It stressed that advocates, being officers of the court, are expected to uphold public confidence in the justice delivery system.
The council further stated that the accusations against Singh had a “direct bearing" on the dignity and discipline associated with the profession.
“Accordingly, Samarth Singh, Advocate, is hereby suspended from practice as an advocate with immediate effect, pending further consideration by the Bar Council of India and/or the appropriate Disciplinary Committee," the order stated.

Twisha Sharma, 33, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, only months after getting married. While her in-laws claimed that she had been struggling with drug addiction, her family accused them of dowry harassment and alleged that she was driven to death.
The Bar Council noted that the case involved “serious allegations" surrounding the death of a woman inside her matrimonial home within months of marriage.

Referring to the FIR and the ongoing probe, the council also recorded that it had received information suggesting Singh was absconding and allegedly not cooperating with investigators.
Following the suspension, Singh has been barred from appearing, pleading, filing vakalatnama or practising before any court, tribunal or authority across the country until further orders.
The case saw fresh developments on Friday as Singh, who was allegedly missing for more than a week, withdrew his anticipatory bail plea before the Madhya Pradesh High Court and later surrendered before a court in Jabalpur. He was subsequently taken into custody by Bhopal police.
Meanwhile, the high court ordered a second autopsy of Twisha Sharma to be conducted by a specialised team from AIIMS Delhi after objections raised by her family regarding the initial postmortem examination.
In a separate development, the court also issued notice to Singh’s mother, Giribala Singh, on pleas seeking cancellation of her bail on grounds that she was allegedly not cooperating with the investigation.
