Samarth, Giribala Singh custody extended; CBI seeks voice samples, husband’s laptop password

BHOPAL: A Bhopal court on Tuesday remanded Twisha Sharma's husband, Samarth Singh, and Giribala Singh to 14 more days of judicial custody in the Twisha death case. Both accused will remain in jail till July 14.They were produced before the court through video conferencing.According to news agency ANI, Twisha Sharma's family counsel, Ankur Pandey, said the CBI sought an extension of the judicial custody of both accused, which the court granted after hearing arguments from both sides. "Today, they (CBI) filed another application seeking a further extension of 14 days, presenting their arguments. The opposition counsel, representing the accused, opposed the move.

However, considering all facts, the court has extended their (Giribala and Samarth Singh) judicial custody by an additional 14 days, and the next hearing is scheduled for July 14," Pandey said.He further said the CBI also filed additional applications seeking voice samples of both accused for forensic comparison and requested the court to direct Samarth Singh to provide the password to his laptop for forensic examination.

"During the investigation, the CBI retrieved certain audio recordings, and they have filed an application seeking the voice specimens of both accused to match them. Additionally, the laptop seized from Samarth Singh had been sent to CFSL Delhi, but the complete data could not be retrieved because it is password-protected. Regarding this, an application has been filed directing Samarth Singh to provide the password for the laptop," he added.Pandey also said the second post-mortem report has not yet been submitted before the court.Meanwhile, Twisha Sharma's father said the final post-mortem report is still awaited as certain technical examinations, including DNA analysis, are yet to be completed. "Look, as Ankur ji stated, the postmortem report is in a critical stage, and certain technical analyses, such as the DNA analysis, are still pending. A lab generally takes its time for such procedures, and since a preliminary report cannot be handed over, they have not provided one.

I cannot comment further on that, but their stance is that they will submit the entire report along with all final findings together. This falls under their jurisdiction, and they are taking their time.

It is expected that they will wrap it up soon," he said.During the proceedings, the court was informed that the second post-mortem report in the case is still awaited.Counsel for Twisha’s family also requested the court to direct that Samarth Singh be asked to provide the password of his laptop to enable its forensic examination as part of the investigation. Meanwhile, counsel for Giribala Singh raised the issue of an alleged theft at the residence during the hearing. The case pertains to the death of Twisha Sharma, a Noida resident, who died at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12.
