The last rites of Twisha Sharma was performed in Bhopal by her brother on Sunday evening following the completion of her second post-mortem examination, family members said.
Twisha’s husband Samarth’s Advocate Gyanendra Sharma told PTI that he tried to save her and took her to hospital, “Samarth tried to save her, rushed her to hospital instead of waiting for police; Twisha didn’t want to keep child."
Meanwhile, Twisha Sharma’s family has denied allegations of dowry harassment, claiming her husband tried to save his wife after she allegedly attempted suicide at their home.
According to the accused family, Twisha’s husband rushed her to hospital and attempted CPR before seeking medical help. They claimed the couple had no disputes over dowry and described the allegations as “false and one-sided".
Twisha Sharma, who got married earlier this year, died under suspicious circumstances within months of her wedding. Her family accused her husband and in-laws of harassing her for dowry and alleged she was mentally tortured before her death.
Police have registered a case under sections related to dowry death and cruelty against the husband and his family members. The husband was arrested after Twisha’s family lodged a complaint.
The accused family said they are cooperating with the investigation and demanded a fair probe into the case. Police said further investigation is underway.
