The last rites of Twisha Sharma will be performed in Bhopal on Sunday evening following the completion of her second post-mortem examination, family members said. According to a message being circulated by the family members, Twisha’s final rites will be held today at 5:00 pm at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat (Shamshan Ghat), Muktidham, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The second autopsy is being conducted by a team of senior doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, after directions issued by the Madhya Pradesh High Court amid growing demands for transparency in the investigation.
Speaking to ANI, Twisha’s cousin Ashish Sharma said the family had initially wanted to conduct the final rites in Delhi but later decided against it due to practical and medical concerns.
“We wanted to perform the last rites in Delhi, but I think it’s probably impractical in this heat to travel so far. Due to medical reasons, it’s been decided to perform her last rites in Bhopal," he said.
“She will be given her final farewell at 5 pm today. They (the accused family) themselves are responsible for this entire accident, so if they come forward with honesty and truth, they should clearly state their facts. That would be enough for them, because now that compensation cannot be made," he added.

Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, said the family remains hopeful that the second post-mortem will provide clarity and ensure a transparent investigation.
“We are all very hopeful and waiting. We will plan the last rites according to the time it will take. This is a big step ahead, and we are all happy that the transparency we wanted is coming forth," he said.
Another family member alleged that there were significant shortcomings in the first post-mortem examination and expressed confidence that the fresh medical review would address unanswered questions.
“There were a lot of shortcomings in the first post-mortem, and we have a lot of hope with the second one that will bring clarity on the things that were not there in the first one. The judiciary coming into action is a positive sign. Now that the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance, something will definitely be done," the relative said.
The case has drawn widespread attention after the Supreme Court reportedly took suo motu cognisance of the matter, while the High Court’s intervention led to the decision for a second autopsy under the supervision of senior AIIMS doctors.
