One of the accused granted bail will remain behind bars as he faces multiple other criminal cases linked to the TCS Nashik matter.
Nashik: The Nashik Road additional sessions court on Monday granted bail to two of the three accused arrested in a sexual assault and hurting religious sentiments case registered at the Deolali Camp police station on March 26, while rejecting the bail application of the prime accused, a TCS team lead accused of sexually exploiting the complainant on the false promise of marriage.Among those granted bail is a female TCS employee who was three months pregnant when she was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on May 7 after allegedly remaining absconding for 41 days.The Nashik police Special Investigation Team (SIT) had filed a 1,500-page chargesheet in the case before the Nashik Road sessions court on May 22. The accused have been booked under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including criminal conspiracy, rape, sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means or a false promise of marriage, sexual harassment, abetment, outraging religious feelings, destruction of evidence and harbouring an offender.A corporator from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has also been named as a co-accused for allegedly providing shelter to the female employee while she was on the run.Defence counsel Advocate Baba Sayyad confirmed the court’s order. He said the female accused is likely to walk out of jail on Tuesday after receipt of the operative order.“The Nashik Road sessions court has granted bail to two of the accused while rejecting the main accused’s application,” Sayyad said.
However, the police said one of the accused granted bail will remain behind bars as he faces multiple other criminal cases linked to the TCS Nashik matter.ACP (crime) Sandeep Mitke, who headed the SIT investigating all nine cases connected to the TCS Nashik facility, said, “While the woman may be released from prison, the other accused granted bail still faces five more cases registered against him. He will only be released after securing bail in those remaining five cases.”Mitke added that the female employee is named in one more case registered with the Mumbai Naka police station, but was only served a notice and not arrested in that matter.The investigation into the multiple cases linked to the TCS Nashik office is continuing.
