Two arrested for murder of Chandwad youth over suspected affair

Nashik: The Chandwad police have arrested two men for allegedly murdering a 19-year-old and throwing his body into a village well over suspicion that he was having an affair with a girl, officials said.The deceased, Sharad Wackchaure, a 19-year-old from Talegaon Rohi in Chandwad taluka, was found drowned in a well in the village on the night between May 21 and 22. An accidental death case was initially registered and investigated by the police.Based on a complaint filed by Sharad’s father, Ashok Wackchaure, the police on Sunday registered a murder case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested Roshan Wackchaure (27) and Sachin Gade (23), both residents of the same village.According to the investigation, Sharad had left home on the morning of May 21 on Sachin Gade’s motorcycle, carrying a can of diesel that had allegedly been requested by Roshan Wackchaure.During the course of the accidental death probe, Sharad’s family learnt that Roshan was in a relationship with a girl and that the two had stopped speaking after an argument. Sharad had reportedly intervened and helped patch up their differences, following which they resumed contact.

However, Roshan later began suspecting that Sharad and the girl were having an affair. Family members also received information that Roshan and Sharad had argued over the issue around a fortnight before the youth's death.In his complaint, Ashok Wackchaure alleged that whenever he asked Roshan and Sachin about his son’s whereabouts, they gave evasive answers. He further alleged that the duo killed Sharad by throwing him into the well because they suspected he was involved with the girl.The police said both accused have been arrested and are being interrogated.
