The Eluru district police arrested two persons for allegedly selling fake ‘darshan’ tickets in Chinna Tirupati Venkateswara Swamy temple.
Police took up investigation after Dwaraka Tirumala temple Executive Officer Y. Bhadraji lodged a complaint on fake ‘darshan’ tickets. The racket came into light when the temple staff noticed 61 fake ‘darshan’ tickets of ₹200 at the scanning point on March 15.
“We arrested an outsourced employee, S. Seshubabu, and a private security guard, M. Satish, who issued the tickets,” said Eluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar.
“The main accused in the case is absconding. We are trying to find out whether any other accused were involved in the scam, and for how long the accused had been issuing fake ‘darshan’ tickets,” the DSP told The Hindu on Saturday (March 28).
