Two men have been arrested for allegedly selling portable sonography machines
Kolhapur: Two men have been arrested for allegedly selling portable sonography machines by the Kolhapur police. The police busted the racket of illegal sex determination.Mahesh Patil, the key accused, had bought the portable sonography machine in 2024 from Vijay Kolaskar and Onkar Karale.
One and a half years ago, Patil was arrested with one sonography machine, but police found he had actually bought two machines.
The other machine was with his friend.After he was released on bail, he started carrying out illegal sex determination again with the help of the second machine, said police inspector Ravindra Kalamkar.Kolaskar (39) from Madilge in Bhudargad tehsil, and Karale (30) from Sodoli Khalsa bought the machines from a doctor in Belagavi, Karnataka. They sold two machines to Mahesh Patil who used to charge Rs20,000 to check the sex of the foetus and an additional Rs15,000 for pregnancy termination.Patil was arrested along with two others from a room in the sugar factory workers’ residence area.
