Ara: In a joint operation, the Bihar STF and the Bhojpur police seized an AK-47 rifle and a large cache of arms and ammunition during a raid in Shahpur village in the early hours of Saturday.
Two suspected arms smugglers were arrested.Bhojpur SP Raj said, “Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Bihar STF and Bhojpur police led by the Shahpur SHO, Kumar Rajnikant, conducted a raid at Shahpur village and seized an AK-47 (loaded), two country-made pistols, a revolver, a katta, a rifle, a country-made semi-automatic pistol, five magazines, three cellphones and 76 live cartridges, including 22 live cartridges of the AK-47 from two houses belonging to one Pankaj Rai alias Satyajit Rai and one Ankit Kumar.
Both Pankaj (35) and Ankit (19) have been arrested and are being interrogated.”The SP added, “The ongoing interrogation of the two arrested criminals will reveal the source of their supply of such a large stockpile of arms and ammunitions. Since an AK-47 has also been seized, we are taking the help of the agencies concerned on the basis of the serial number of the seized AK-47 in order to trace it. The confiscated cellphones have been sent to the FSL for more details of the suspected arms deal. The criminal history of the arrested persons is also being found out.
