The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) detained two Bangladeshi nationals from the new terminal of Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport.

The CISF personnel allegedly recovered forged Aadhaar cards and other doubtful documents from the two during security check before their departure to Mumbai on an Akasa Air flight.

Officials said the two, identified as Rana Molla and Mafuja Akhtar, were residents of Bangladesh. The two were later handed over to the Azara police station, which covers the airport area.

“We are trying to find out about their activities in India and whether they are linked to a larger network involved in illegal cross-border movement,” a police officer said.

This was the second such case at the airport in less than a fortnight. On June 17, the police arrested a 24-year-old woman after she arrived on an evening flight from Bengaluru.

The woman admitted that she was a Bangladeshi national and entered India via Tripura. She acquired a fake Aadhaar in the name of Puja Das before crossing over from Bangladesh.
