Two drown while fishing in rain-swollen stream near Tajpur

Two men drowned after accidentally falling into the Chinneru stream on the outskirts of Tajpur village, Bhongir mandal on Tuesday afternoon (August 19).

The victims were identified as Enkarla Venkatesh, 48, of Bhongir town, and Mohammed Jahangir, 52, of Tajpur village. Police said the incident was reported around 1 p.m. when both men, who had gone fishing, slipped into the stream, which was overflowing following heavy rainfall in the region.

A case was booked by the Bhongir police and an investigation is underway. The police have urged villagers to avoid venturing near streams and rivulets, which are in spate due to incessant rains across the surrounding areas of Hyderabad.
