Two held for illegally refilling LPG cylinders in Goshamahal

Two persons were arrested for allegedly refilling gas from domestic cylinders into commercial cylinders without a licence at Jummerat Bazar under Goshamahal police station limits on March 15.

The accused were identified as D. Vineeth Kumar, 42, a businessman from Jummerath Bazar, and Rameshwari, 46, a homemaker from the same locality.

According to the police, P. Arunoday, Sub-Inspector of Goshamahal police station, received information at around 10 a.m. that Vineeth Kumar was illegally refilling gas from domestic cylinders into commercial cylinders at his premises. After obtaining permission from senior officers, a police team conducted a raid at the house at around 11.20 a.m.

During the raid, the police found Vineeth Kumar and Rameshwari allegedly transferring gas from domestic cylinders into commercial cylinders to earn money without obtaining the required licence from the competent authority.

The police seized five small gas cylinders with opened seals, three big gas cylinders with opened seals, a gas refilling kit and an electronic weighing machine from the premises.

A case was registered under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act. Further investigation is underway.
