Two held for sexual assault

Kochi: North police on Monday arrested two men for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and recording visuals to blackmail her. The arrested persons were identified as Firoz Khan, 23, of Mayyanad in Kollam, and Aneesh, 43, alias Attani Aneesh of Mattancherry.

The accused were remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday. According to police, Aneesh allegedly brought the woman to a house in Mattancherry and assaulted her and then gave the recorded footage to Khan. On Sunday, when the woman was near JLN Stadium in Kaloor to have tea, Khan took her to a lodge and injected her with MDMA. She was raped again after he threatened her with the footage of the earlier assault. The woman escaped from the lodge room early on Monday and informed a security worker she knew.

He then took her to the general hospital. Based on information provided by the doctor, Ernakulam north police arrested the accused. Police said Aneesh is a notorious goon with multiple cases against him. Case against husband for attacking woman: Aluva west police registered an FIR based on the complaint of a 30-year-old woman that her husband and his friends attacked her. As per an FIR registered by Aluva west police on Tuesday, the accused, a 32-year-old man, and four others attacked her on June 13.

The woman alleged that the attack occurred at the flat where she, her husband and a friend were staying. The accused allegedly woke her up at 1.30am, accusing her of having an affair with a man named Vishnu and snatched her phone. The accused allegedly slapped and punched her. He then asked his friends to come to the room. FIR said the accused then threatened her friend who was staying at the flat and called Vishnu and asked him to come to the flat.

The accused then forcefully made them sit on the bed and recorded visuals of them together. The accused also allegedly verbally abused the complainant, FIR said. Police said an investigation has been launched into the complaint. Bangladesh national held: A Bangladesh national was arrested for illegally staying in the country without any valid documents. The arrested person was identified as Muhammed Raton Islam, 33, of Rajashahi, Bangladesh. He was working at a plywood factory in Ashamnoor. He was booked under relevant sections of Immigration and Foreigners Act.
