Two illegal colonies demolished in Huzur area

Bhopal: District administration on Friday demolished structures on two parcels of land in Huzur area, where illegal colonies were being developed and cleared encroachments on land worth Rs 27 crore.

One of the illegal colonies was being developed at Barkhedi Bajayaft on the land belonging to the son of a former IAS officer, who was once Bhopal collector, said sources.The demolition drive began from Mendori village near Kerwa dam where an illegal colony was being developed on 1.59 hectare land by a developer. The market price of land cleared from encroachments is said to be Rs 15 crore. Following this, the anti-demolition squad moved to Barkhedi Bajayaft area, where another illegal colony was being developed by the same builder.Sources said that the land on which the colony was coming up is in the name of the son of a former IAS officer. The land is worth Rs 12 crore in the market.Huzur SDM Vinod Sonakiya said that 24 illegal colonies, being developed without statutory permissions, have been demolished in Huzur area so far. He said that builders had constructed roads and cut plots for sale without obtaining permissions as required under law.
