Two Killed, 17 Injured As Bus Bursts Into Flames After Collision With Truck On Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

According to police, the bus was travelling between Haridwar and Indore when it lost control near a rest area in the Kolwa police station limits and collided with the truck.

At least two people were killed and 17 others injured after a passenger bus caught fire following a collision with a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Tuesday, officials said.

According to police, the bus was travelling between Haridwar and Indore when it lost control near a rest area in the Kolwa police station limits and collided with the truck. The impact triggered a massive fire that engulfed the bus.

Authorities fear there could be more casualties, as rescue operations are still underway.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yogendra Faujdar said, “A bus traveling from Indore to Haridwar met with a severe accident near a rest area on the Delhi Highway, resulting in the death of 2 passengers and injuries to 17 others. The SP is on the spot along with other officers… The bus caught fire… the fire tenders are on the spot…"

Two bodies and 17 injured passengers have been brought to the District Hospital in Dausa. A green corridor was created to ensure the swift transportation of the injured for treatment.

Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit reached the spot to oversee rescue and relief operations.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yogendra Fauzdar, along with personnel from multiple police stations, is present at the District Hospital as rescue efforts continue.

Fire tenders were rushed to the scene to douse the blaze, and rescue teams continued operations.
