Two new sections to be closed for Porvorim road work till March 19

Panaji: The road stretches from Damian de Goa to Hyundai showroom and from Holy Family Church to O’Coqueiro Junction, will be closed till March 19 to facilitate the Porvorim elevated highway work.The office of the North Goa district magistrate notified that the traffic diversion or closure of the stretches of roads mentioned in Phase-II will only be undertaken upon completion of Phase-I, i.e. closure from pillar 16 near ODP road to pillar 20 near Damian de Goa, and closure from pillar 16 to pillar 55 near O’Coqueiro junction.Heavy vehicles carrying essential commodities will not be able to travel on ODP road from the Mapusa side due to the steep ascent. Hence, one lane on the existing carriageway will be kept open for all vehicular traffic proceeding from Mapusa to Panaji.
