Two persons arrested with 14g of MDMA in Kochi

Kochi: City police arrested two men with 14.63g of MDMA early on Thursday. Accused allegedly supplied drugs to high-profile persons, including those in film industry and medical practitioners.The arrested were identified as Amal George Shenson, 33, of Edayakunnam, Cheranallore, and Abhijith M V, 25 , of Palayathuruthu, Vadakkekara.According to police, a search operation was held at a flat in Fasisha apartment complex located on Poisha Road, Cheranallore. The raid, which began at 11pm on Wednesday, continued till 12.15am on Thursday. The raid was conducted by district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) and local police officers.Officers said they are investigating antecedents of the accused, and at least one of them was reportedly involved in a major drug case. Police have seized mobile phones of the accused and launched a probe to identify regular customers who used to buy the drug from them.Cheranallore police registered a case under relevant Sections of NDPS Act. Accused were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.Police have intensified crackdown against drug peddling in the city as part of Operation Toofan. Officers urged public to share information regarding drug abuse to police.
