Two rebel MLAs of the AIADMK, including former Minister K.C. Veeramani, on Tuesday skipped the party’s district-wise consultations chaired by general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The other MLA was S.M.  Sukumar of Arcot.

In the morning, Mr. Palaniswami reviewed the party’s performance in the Assembly election in Ranipet and  Tirupattur districts. There are eight Assembly constituencies in these districts, and the AIADMK won two of them.

Mr. Veeramani, who represents Jolarpet, and Mr. Sukumar were among the 25 dissidents who had supported the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) at the time of the trust motion in the Assembly in May. The two, along with seven others, wrote to Mr. Palaniswami last week, expressing their unwillingness to take up the assignments given to them and preferring to remain as “ordinary members” of the party.

In the evening, Mr. Palaniswami covered the functioning of the Tiruvallur North and Central units.

Meanwhile, Mr. Palaniswami referred to the delay in the appointment of government advocates to courts and the allegations made in this regard. He urged the TVK government to ensure the early appointment of advocates.

Former Minister C. Ponnaiyan, accompanied by his colleagues, paid floral tributes at the memorial for Rettamalai  Srinivasan, one of the leaders of the Scheduled Castes during the pre-Gandhi era, at Guindy in Chennai.
