A dairy farming couple from a village in Telangana brought their buffaloes to the camp office of Congress MLA Gandra Satyanarayana from Bhupalpally, accusing him of being responsible for the demolition of their cattle shed.
The farmers, Koorakula Odelu and Lalitha from Veshallapalli village, said their buffalo shed was torn down without warning. They alleged that local officials carried out the demolition only because the MLA told them to. “The police themselves said they acted on his orders,” the couple claimed.
With no shelter left for their animals, the couple decided to tie the buffaloes outside the MLA’s office to show their anger. “We voted for him without taking a single rupee. Is this the reward he gives us?” they asked.
They said they would not take the buffaloes back until a new shed is built for them.
Former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) had earlier slammed the Congress government, saying its policies are hurting Telangana farmers. He claimed that the government was working to protect the interests of Andhra Pradesh instead.
“Telangana society is observing that the state Chief Minister is seeking to safeguard the interests of Chandrababu here and Modi there,” KCR said, adding that the people can clearly see where the government’s loyalties lie.
