Two medical students died after their two-wheeler had a head-on collision with a mini-truck near Circuit House on Bengaluru-Honnavara Road in Shivamogga, Karnataka on August 20.

The deceased have been identified as Adithya, 21, a native of Katpadi in Udupi district, and Sandeep, 21, of Nyamathi in Davanagere district. Both are third-year MBBS students at Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences. They were residents of the college hostel.

According to the police, the students went to a petrol station near APMC yard around 5 a.m. While returning to the hostel, their bike collided with the mini-truck, which was turning towards Kuvempu Road from B.H. Road. The students, who were not wearing helmets, suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.

The truck was carrying milk. Narayana, the driver of the truck, suffered minor injuries.

Shivamogga Traffic (West) Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to McGann Hospital for post-mortem.
