Two-week capacity building programme concludes at Central University of Karnataka

“The One Nation One Subscription initiative offers a vast opportunity for researchers to access quality academic resources from across the globe at their fingertips. Our teachers must make the best use of this facility to produce high-quality research,” said Battu Satyanarayana, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Karnataka (CUK).

He was speaking at the valedictory session of the two-week capacity building programme on research methodology for young teachers, organised by the Department of Education, CUK, and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, on Friday.

Mr. Satyanarayana said that the university has made significant investments in building research infrastructure, including laboratory and library development, and in creating a research ecosystem on campus.

“Whatever you have learnt here should be taken back to your classrooms and used to mentor future researchers. The development of any nation depends on its capacity for research and innovation. If we are to achieve the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat,’ we must ensure that the benefits of quality research reach the last person in society,” he added.

Programme director G.R. Angadi said the aim of the programme was to enhance the research skills of young faculty members.

“The training covered key areas such as research methodology, publication strategies, research ethics, quantitative and qualitative tools, and field-based educational practices, offering a comprehensive blend of theory and practical learning,” he said.

Basavaraj Benni from the Department of Economics, Bangalore University, delivered a special lecture on qualitative research techniques.

The two-week programme saw participation from young teachers across different parts of the country.
