Two women were killed after an SUV travelling from Chikamagaluru in Karnataka towards Aramgarh allegedly rammed into them while they were crossing National Highway 44 near the Satamrai bus stop in Shamshabad on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred at around 7.20 a.m. when the SUV, bearing registration number KA13 AA 4726, allegedly hit the pedestrians after its driver drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner.
The deceased were identified as Suvarna, 65, a homemaker, and Suma, 59, who worked at a function hall. Both were residents of Satamrai village and died on the spot. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.
