UAE Cricket Board has named Muhammad Waseem as captain for the upcoming tri-series involving Pakistan and Afghanistan. The tournament will be held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium from August 29.
The series serves as a warm-up for the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled in UAE from September 9.The experienced opening batter Waseem will lead a 15-member squad in their first match against Pakistan on August 30. The tournament follows a round-robin format, with all matches starting at 7:00 PM local time (8:30pm IST), culminating in the final on September 7.The UAE team includes promising talents like Alishan Sharafu and two wicketkeepers - Aryansh Sharma and Rahul Chopra. Other key players in the squad are Asif Khan, Dhruv Parashar, and Junaid Siddique. The team will be guided by head coach Lalchand Rajput, with Amjad Ezzi serving as team manager.The tournament schedule kicks off with Afghanistan facing Pakistan in the opening match on August 29. Each team will play four matches before the top two teams advance to the final.
