Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has directed all colleges and universities to complete UG final semester examinations by end-April so that PG courses can begin early.
This year, the department decided to begin the first-year UG and PG classes for the new 2026-27 academic session from July 10.In a letter to the registrars and principals of all public universities and colleges, the department directed them to ensure that UG final semester exams are completed by April 30 and the results are declared by June 1. This will facilitate the conduct of the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) on time.Department officials said this will also help students of the state appear for various entrance examinations conducted by central institutions for admission to various higher education courses.
The subject-wise CPET will be conducted by the State Selection Board from April 27 to May 10. Online registration for PG admissions has already begun on the SAMS portal. For the 2026-27 session, PG admissions will cover 126 higher education institutions with 31,701 seats, while 1,058 institutions will participate in UG admissions, offering 2.77 lakh seats.
