Ulaanbaatar Open Ranking Series: Manisha, Neha Claim Greco-Roman Gold in Mongolia

With six medals so far, the Indian contingent has taken a commanding position in the overall medal standings as Manisha and Neha bagged gold in the women's division.

Manisha and Neha captured gold medals in the women’s division, leading a strong performance by Indian wrestlers who finished the day with four gold and two bronze medals across the Greco-Roman and women’s events at the Ulaanbaatar Open Ranking Series in Mongolia.

With six medals so far, the Indian contingent has taken a commanding position in the overall medal standings.

The Greco-Roman squad concluded its campaign with two golds and one bronze. Sunil secured the 87kg gold by defeating Azad Salidinov 4-1, while Nitesh claimed the 97kg title with a 13-9 win over Nurassyl Amanaly.

Sumit earned the 60kg bronze medal after overcoming compatriot Sahil 5-0.

“The performances by Manisha and Neha, along with the three medals from our Greco-Roman wrestlers, highlight our competitive strength at the international level. Winning gold medals against top opponents from DPR Korea and Kazakhstan reflects the quality of our preparation.

“This successful start provides excellent momentum for the rest of the tournament," said Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Singh.

In the women’s wrestling events, Manisha won the 57kg gold with a 3-1 victory over DPR Korea’s Sim Son, while Neha clinched the 59kg gold by defeating DPR Korea’s Pyol Hong 5-3.

Earlier, Neelam secured the 50kg bronze medal with a 10-0 technical superiority win against Kazakhstan’s Maral Tangirbergenova.

The men’s freestyle division and the remaining women’s weight categories are scheduled to begin on Saturday.
