Responding to All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent statement that his defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Kalaburagi constituency was the result of electoral fraud, the former MP Umesh Jadhav has launched a counterattack saying that his defeat in the 2024 Lok Shaba elections was due to vote-rigging.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Dr. Jadhav said that the veteran Congress leader [Mr. Kharge] lost to him in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and now, after six years, Mr. Kharge is saying that his defeat then was due to electoral fraud.

Dr. Jadhav said that his own defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was due to fake votes created in the Assembly segments coming under Kalaburagi Lok Sabha constituency to ensure a Congress win.

Accusing the Congress of “misusing” government machinery to win from the Kalaburagi constituency the 2024 parliament elections, Dr. Jadhav also attributed his defeat in the elections to lack of resources and inadequacy of strategies.

DISHA meetings

Dr. Jadhav accused Kalaburagi MP Radhakrishana Doddamani of not conducting District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meetings regularly. He reminded those concerned that DISHA meetings should be held once in a quarter to review and monitor implementation of Central government schemes and programmes.

MLA Basavaraj Mattimod and MLC B.G. Patil were present.
