Union, State government schemes for farmers highlighted in Anantapur

The National Service Scheme (NSS), JNTUA College of Engineering, in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) – Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and MYBharat of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised an awareness programme on Union and State government schemes for marginalised and underprivileged communities at Ramnepalli in Raptadu mandal in Anantapur district.

The objective of the programme was to connect rural farmers with various government welfare schemes and empower them with information that can improve their livelihoods, thereby contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

JNTUA NSS Coordinator G. Mamatha, MYBharat Representative and National Youth Awardee Bisathi Bharath, Financial Literacy Staff from Canara Bank, Bramarambha, JNTUA vice-principal Dileep, and others attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bisathi Bharath highlighted several initiatives introduced by the Union and State governments for farmers, including Kisan Credit Card, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission, Kisan e-Mitra App, e-NAM, PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Per Drop More Crop, Soil Health Cards, PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, the myScheme portal, and the NaMo Drone Didi Scheme.

He emphasised that empowering farmers and increasing their income are key factors in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Ms. Bramarambha explained various financial security and social welfare schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, encouraging villagers to make use of these beneficial schemes.

The NSS volunteers played a crucial role in organising the programme, coordinating with villagers and farmers to ensure active participation and awareness.
