The YSRCP has asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to show tangible and significant progress in Amaravati, while maintaining that much of what he has talked all these years is confined to rhetoric.
Addressing the media along with party leaders Devineni Avinash and Malladi Vishnu on Sunday, former Minister Velampalli Srinivas said there was no development worth mentioning in Vijayawada city, which was in sharp contrast to the multiple works that had been undertaken during the YSRCP term.
He pointed out that the Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Guntur region (MAVIGUN) would flourish as a mega city if focus was laid on the development of railways and construction of the seaport at Machilipatnam. Instead of focusing on balanced development, Mr. Naidu was cheating people in the name of Amaravati, he alleged.
Mr. Vishnu said the Vijayawada western bypass road had been constructed during the YSRCP term. It was ridiculous that the TDP Government, which failed in getting the Benz Circle flyover and the retaining wall at Krishna Lanka built, was harping on Amaravati, he said.
The ₹2 lakh crore that government planned to spend on Amaravati would impose a huge burden on the future generations, he said, and claimed that ‘MAVIGUN’ was not only practical but also economical and feasible.
